Greetings....

I'm trying to boot an RS/6000 using the kernel image from YDL. My madness in
booting this system is as follows:

1. Enable bootp/tftp on another rs/6000
2. place entries in necessary places, place ydl kernel image in /tftpboot
3. power on node, into sms, and boot over network

OK... it works, sorta.... The system loads the kernel,

BOOTP S = 1 FILE: /tftpboot/usassv19en0.linux Load Addr=0x4000 Max Size=0xbfc000 FINAL Packet Count = 1603 chrpboot starting: loaded at 0x400000 gunzipping (0x10000 <- 0x415be8:0x4c73e8)...done 1749064 bytes start address = 0x1000c copying OF device tree...done instantiating rtas... done

At this point, I see Linux 2.2.12 on the LCD panel.. Whoa, i say to myself. unfortunately, we stop here.

Now, the system in question does not have a graphics card nor keyboard/monitor. My only connection is via ethernet and serial console. So, my madness is to boot over the network and start nfsroot... i'm sure it's doable.

So, I've d/l the ydl kener source for 2.2.12. Im cross compiling a new kernel using the cross compiling tools available. Now, here is were I'm stuck. How do enable console=ttyS0, if I don't get the boot: prompt??? Or, can i use rdev to enable console=ttyS0 by default... anyhow, any assistance is appreciated!!!!

Thanks, -Frank
