I tried to compile MySQL 3.23.26 today and got the following errors:

My system:

G3 Server 450mhz
YDL 1.2x
Kernel: 2.2.17-0.6.1
glibc 2.1.3-15f

I noticed a similar post regarding the issue on the MySQL mailing list last
month, but there was never a response.
