Dan,

Ouch! Strong words! I'll try to word my questions more carefully next time.

I certainly did not mean to dispariage the good efforts of anyone putting together the
next versions of Linux. Only to point out how it all looks to a newcomer to Linux when
the newcomer tries to put it all together for their own use on their personal system.
Things happen fast, and as a newcomer, I won't always "get it".

The distributions are another matter. Having only started with with the June 1999
LinuxPPC disks, I found them to be quite easy to use, and with the assistance of
material from various sites, I was able to get my system up and running in an
afternoon.

Dan, what I'm trying to get at is how someone like myself, with limited time resources
and limited detailed knowlege can both get access to development versions and provide
help those who are working to provide us with the next versions of Linux. My feeling
is that I can provide some useful testing with minimal guidance and so could a lot of
others who are still learning the ropes.

What do you think about this?
