Patrick,

Most of what you say here is fairly if not completely accurate.
Some developer folks have started to suggest some things we can do to
centralize what kernel tree we use, etc.

Right now, we could ship with Paul M's tree, the VGER tree, or the Linus
tree (if PPC even works in a given version).

The suggestion I've heard recently is to have another tree (eek!), but it
would be the "final tree" that people are to get their kernel from.
Paul M's tree is his personal on, VGER is basically were code needs to go
to get back to Linus.. and "final" would have all of the ati Rage 128
stuff, USB stuff, already applied.

I'm not sure if this is the solution, but at least we're starting to think
about it :)
