Yellow Dog *is* the distribution, but I know what you mean - there are
some patches in the YDL kernel that are not in "standard" trees.

Tony's problems didn't sound like they could be kernel-related though...
For example, how could the standard YDL kernel not include iso9660 support
when the YDL CD is in iso9660?

Sound is also there, though it's compiled in as a module. Accordingly,
he'll need to follow the directions listed on the web page and sent by
someone else in an earlier mail.

I would recommend rsync'ing linux-pmac-stable. With older machines it's
probably not that big a deal, but with most New World machines there are
enough fixes and enhancements in the PPC-specific trees to be worth your
time. Besides, if something goes wrong people will know what you're
talking about (rather than "well that's kernel.org - you're on your own
there").

Brief rsync directions can be found at http://penguinppc.org/dev. But
again, in this particular case I think the default YDL kernel should be
fine.
