Subject: no ethernet??? very confused newbie

Was wondering how this works.
MOL shows the wrong MAC address in TCP/IP in the MacOS.
Something like
FE:FD:DE:AD:BE:EF which is not the hardware address for the mac.... Thus
DHCP does not pull my IP. Does MOL share the IP or what is going on???
I can see my Appletalk Network through the ethernet adapter in MOL but
no Web, FTP, Telnet, HTTP, etc...
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
