Samuel,
I installed the experimental 603 RPM, compiled and installed a
fresh 2.2.14 kernel, checked to see that the /etc/molrc hadn't changed from
my previous successful setup, and typed startmol.
MOL proceeded to indicate that the patches were applied successfully, that
the patches were meant for a 2.2.14pre9 kernel rather than my 2.2.14
kernel, and without issuing any kernel messages the whole system froze
irrecoverably (as far as I know how to recover).
My previous (and successful) setup consisted of a 2.2.14 kernel patched
with the patches from the latest release on the news page, 0.9.41 I think,
as well as the _NOVERS hacks (in ppc_ksyms.c) mentioned on this list a few
days ago.
My machine is a PowerMac 6500/250. I use an 8500 rom image as I haven't
had any luck getting a New World rom to work (something like eternal
"unmapped rom/ram access" errors I think).
I hope this helps Samuel, feel free to ask my for clearer or more specific
information.
Thanks a ton for all the generous work you've done to make MOL a reality -
I really appreciate it (and regularly use it)!
