Nope, you haven't done anything wrong. This happens for everyone. The
reason for this is that MOL emulates a different kind of ethernet card
than you actually may have. Therefore, when MacOS boots, it looks for the
selected ethernet card, and can't find it. Then when you open the TCP/IP
control panel it switches to the new ethernet card for you. Then of
course, when you reboot back to MacOS, it's looking for the emulated card
and can't find that :) A solution to this is to use the Location Manager
so that you can set your TCP/IP preferences before it's loaded by holding
space at startup.
