What follows is general announcement of a free utility I wrote to help
allow me to mouse-2 click on a URL in emacs VM under Linux and then
browse it on MacOS (actually any URL can potentially work).

For those of you who read mail in Linux, but usually browse using
MacOS this might be helpful.

Note: If you are using ethertap and NAT/ipchains for your MOL
networking, or if your MacOS runs behind a firewall/NAT then this
should be safe.

----------

I am happy to announce that RmoreUrl 1.0.1 (and source) is now available
from:

  <http://rmore.net/RmoreUrl>

The 1.0.1 releases changes the following:

       1. Fixes embarrassing bug related to new preference file
       creation/saving.

       2. Adds delay/fade to RmoreUrlServer status window so you
can see it has actually done something.

RmoreUrl is a free opensource Macintosh MRJ based server/UNIX C
commandline client combo whose only purpose is to pass URLs from the
UNIX/Linux box to Internet Config (and thus to your Mac based browser,
ftp client, email client, etc.).

Included are instructions for configuring emacs VM (a powerful
UNIX/Linux based email client running inside of the emacs editor) to
allow a single UNIX URL click to cause you Mac to access the same URL.

This is probably only useful for you if:

     1. You frequently run MacOS and UNIX behind a firewall/NAT
     server.

     2. You frequently want to view/use urls from your mac which are
located on your UNIX box (for me this is due to my desire to
read email from emacs running on my Linux box).

     3. You have access to both OS's displays at your work area (or
both display to the same screen).

The included source code compiles under MPW using MRJ, MRJ SDK,
and the Internet Config SDK.

And now my disclaimer:

WARNING

DO NOT USE THE RMORE URL SERVER PROGRAM ON ANY MACINTOSH DIRECTLY
REACHABLE FROM THE INTERNET (NOT BEHIND A FIREWALL or NAT SERVER).

The simple protocol used by the RmoreUrlServer is not safe to internet
connected machines not behind a firewall. It would be easy for an
attacker to download files or send your browser to any webpage if you
are not protected.

This means your Macintosh should behind a firewall and the port you
specify in your RmoreUrlServer should be protected/filtered. If you
don't know what this means ask someone at your site/ISP.

For the more technically inclined: RmoreUrlServer listens on a TCP/IP
port on your Mac accepting connections and forwarding the provided
URLs to internet config.
