Runtime patching of kernels is a messy business. I'd suggest (if possible)
getting the released 2.2.18 tree, and building a custom kernel with
Mac-on-Linux support built in. That avoids the whole touchy subject of
runtime patching.

I'm not - but on the Debian install on the Yosemite G3 tower I use at
work, I build my own kernels (2.4.0 now). MoL runs fine (except, of
course, the part where I have to use the tree out of BitKeeper, but no big
deal).
