Long pause during MacOS 9.1 bootup

I am running MOL 0.9.60 and YDL 2.2 on a G3-accelerated 
PowerCenter.  I'm running MacOS 9.1 within MOL.  Shortly 
after the MacOS 9.1 splash screen pops up, there's a 
period of a minute or more when nothing happens, i.e. no 
progress bar movement and no disk access.  Booting then 
continues the rest of the way relatively quickly and 
MacOS runs pretty well.

I've seen reports of long delays when booting 9.2.x, but
is this normal for 9.1?  If not, are there any 
suggestions for getting rid of this delay?
