kernel mismatch

I am not sure, but I think the reason is that it will not consider that
"2.4.18" matches to "2.4.18-newpmac".  i.e. it includes the
suffix as part of the version.

You may want to recompile the mol modules for your kernel.  It's not that
difficult and it worked for me.
