It is not uncommon to have extension conflicts under MOL, especially if they
try to access low-level systems. As a general rule, I would not use Norton
Crashguard at all. You will notice that Norton no longer makes it, as it
tended to cause more problems than it helped. In you case it could be one of
the culprits. By looking at what extensions load before the bomb occurs, you
could test what other extensions might be causing problms. You can use
Location Manager to create different extension sets for MOL vs reg Mac, and
choose at startup.

I don't believe you can run MOL as non-root, but you can use sudo or su to
invoke MOL and still log in as a regular user.
