Mike:

   I have a PowerBase (originally 603e/200) with a PowerLogix G3/350
running 360MHz (45MHz x 8). MOL runs just great. Here are some tips:

1) In general, starting MOL with the same system folder you use running
MacOS native does not work well. For instance, previous versions of the
PowerLogix INIT would hang MOL, although 1.5 does not seem to for me.
Also, you don't want BootX coming up, and you need the MOL system folder
to have the MOL sound extension if you want sound.

MOL creates an environment for MacOS which is different from your native
hardware. I have a seperate volume with its own system folder for
booting MOL.

2) In the 8500 (IIRC) the PowerLogix card will REPLACE the CPU, so your
only worry is making sure the cache is on. BootX 1.2.3, with the
PowerLogix 1.5 control panel/app will set up the L2 cache correctly -
previous versions did not (for me, at least).

3) What I have done is partitioned my disks, and I have a partition for
my MOL system volume which does not mount under MacOS - this prevents
problems with desktop printers, etc. I have all my applications and
data on a seperate partition which mounts under MacOS native AND MOL.

4) MOL's vitrualizations make for some interesting situations. I can
install 9.2.1 under MOL, which refuses to install otherwise because my
hardware is too old. (9.2.2 installs as well, but chokes MOL, so don't
do it). Also, I can get more & better display resolutions with MOL -
MacOS native limits me to 1152x864 if I want 16 bit color and 1280x1024
for 8 bit, but under Linux (and MOL) on the same hardware I can get
1280x960 at 16 bit and 1600x1200 at 8 bit.
