The "KDE is -real- slow" problem: fixes fail

Hi,

I believe I have the KDE bug reported on the yellowdog
update page. It takes, for example, three minutes for 
Konquerer to start up, and then opening a new Konquerer
window takes more than 90 seconds.

Sounds like it, no?

Anyway, the updating procedure fails. apt-get cannot 
get anything, and the do-it-by-hand, rpm method fails
if done as described in the support note. Log included
below.


Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated.
