Hi all,

I am trying to get a Lavalink 8 port octopus 550 serial card to run under
yellow dog linux and just can't get it to work. I am running version
12.4.12 and am following the vague instructions found on lavalinks web page
(abreviated):

* copy rc.serial to /etc/rc.d/init.d/serial
* in the /etc/rc.d/init.d/ run "chkconfig --add serial"
* run setserial /dev/ttyS[2-9] port 0x(io ports) irq # uart 16550 ^fourport

If I now run setserial -g /dev/ttyS[0-9] I get:

/dev/ttyS0, UART: 16650, Port: 0xffeffb08, IRQ: 15
/dev/ttyS1, UART: 16650, Port: 0xffeffb00, IRQ: 14
/dev/ttyS2, UART: 16550A, Port: 0xfe800400, IRQ: 3
/dev/ttyS3, UART: 16550A, Port: 0xfe800408, IRQ: 3
/dev/ttyS4, UART: 16550A, Port: 0xfe800410, IRQ: 3
/dev/ttyS5, UART: 16550A, Port: 0xfe800418, IRQ: 3
/dev/ttyS6, UART: 16550A, Port: 0xfe800420, IRQ: 3
/dev/ttyS7, UART: 16550A, Port: 0xfe800428, IRQ: 3
/dev/ttyS8, UART: 16550A, Port: 0xfe800430, IRQ: 3
/dev/ttyS9, UART: 16550A, Port: 0xfe800438, IRQ: 3

Which looks good to me, but nothing happens when I try to cat a file
out one of those ports. I believe the cabling is correct and know
that my linux has a 16550 driver. I also can run lspci and get the
following:

00:0d.0 Serial controller: Lava Computer mfg Inc: Unknown device 0180
(prog-if 0
2 [16550])
         Flags: slow devsel, IRQ 3
         I/O ports at fe800400 [size=8]
         I/O ports at fe800408 [size=8]
         I/O ports at fe800410 [size=8]
         I/O ports at fe800418 [size=8]

00:0d.1 Serial controller: Lava Computer mfg Inc: Unknown device 0181
(prog-if 0
2 [16550])
         Flags: slow devsel, IRQ 3
         I/O ports at fe800420 [size=8]
         I/O ports at fe800428 [size=8]
         I/O ports at fe800430 [size=8]
         I/O ports at fe800438 [size=8]

Do you know if there is some other configuration that needs to be done? I
have found close to nothing for support on the web and at lavalink's site.

If you have any suggestions they will be greatly appreciated!
