Been following this thread, with some interest.

The amount of swap to set up is dependent on a number factors, Amoubt 
of hd-space, ram memory,
filesystem, what kind of usage youre using your box for, etc.
( I you dont know what your doing, I'd suggest you, keep to the YDL 
recommendations )

General consensus, seems to be between the same amount swap as ram up to about,
double amount of swap compared to amount of ram, espicially if your 
running reiser fs or another
journaling file system.

Personally speaking, I haven't found this very critical, on my 
flatpanel iMac with 512 Mb ram,
80G hd, I have run with both 512 - 1025Mb swap.
I havent noticed any big difference, but as they say, your mileage may differ.
