SMP kernels

Has anybody had luck with SMP kernels with their Mac? So far I have tried
Mandrake 8.2 PPC and Suse 7.3 PPC and both SMP kernels fail to boot. Then
I tried Debian PPC (installed like a charm) and its SMP PPC kernel fails
too. Then I tried to compile my own SMP 2.4.18 kernel and all of my
attempts have failed. Am I wasting my time with an SMP kernel for Macs?
Please!!!

Haven't tried Yellow Dog 2.3 cuz it won't install...Any help on my
previous post??
