Well, the good news is, with your help I got YDL 2.3 running on my
PowerBook G3 Wallstreet 233MHz. (14.1 in. screen)
The bad news is, now I'm going to be asking you all lots of questions about
how to configure it, how to get it to this or that, etc.
The first in the doubtlessly long series of questions:

Optimal video settings for my computer?

The first time I installed I chose accelerated video, and that didn't work out
so well, so I tried again and chose unaccelerated video. I told it my display
was a Powerbook G3 pre-1999, and that the resolution is 1024x768. I think I
said 16-bit color.
I'm telling BootX to force video settings, checking the "no video driver" box,
and passing video=atyfb.
This is working--I've gotten rid of all the nasty effects you get when you get
your settings wrong (flashing, lines, multiple images, etc), but it's not very
fast. I'd like to get better video performance, if possible. Anybody have
other settings I can try? If there are things I need to change in files on
the linux system, or places I need to look for more information, you'll need
to tell me fairly explicitly, as I don't have any experience mucking with
video settings.

Apologies--I'm sure this has been covered at some point in the past, but I
couldn't readily find the relevant post in the archives. humor me...

TIA,

Andrew Stout
