I have a very similar machine (PBG3 233/14.1/288/20G).
My current settings are:
unaccelerated video (chosen during installation, but I'm sure you can
change this somewhere)
1024x768 (again, chosen during installation)
BootX: check Options: force video settings
check no video driver box
kernel arguments: video=atyfb

(note I don't pass it a vmode. I don't have any idea why this helps, but I
found that it did back in January, when I was trying to get YDL 2.1 going.)
It's not fast, but it gives me an otherwise fine display output.

YDL= 2.3 (2.4.19 kernel, comes with v4.2 Xwindows?)

Hope this helps. I just posted a query last night asking about
accelerated settings last night--so there are at least two of us hoping
somebody out there has some info...
