USB ZIP drive "not a block device" error

/dev/sda shouldn't be mounted or ever used.  use pdisk to look at the 
partitions on the zip and mount the partition with the data.  If this is 
a new zip, use pdisk to make one partition , format it and and then 
mount the zip as /dev/sda1.
