snmpd crashes

Hello

after installing snmpd with apt-get..
i run the server.
when I run the commando  snmpwalk localhost -c public
then the snmpdaemon crashes and a status gives  "snmpd dead but subsys 
locked"

This is a clean install of ydl 2.3 with snmpd snmpd-util and snmpd-devel
Does anyone have a clue why this isn't working
What am i forgetting?

The message file gives:
