If you have a look at the Apple forum I quoted in my original message I
think you'll find a LOT of people complaining about this. There was
also a Slashdot thread on this topic last week and again many posts
from disgruntled Apple users. Hence my use of the word rampant, while
still an exaggeration, is not completely unjustified.

Also, the only Windows system my laptop is outperforming at the moment
is one with a dead battery. Out of the box I could get b/w 2 and 4
hours use depending on what I was doing. Last week I was getting an
hour. Today I can get about half an hour. Many of the complaints I've
read suggest that this rapid deterioration will continue and that
shortly I will not be able to use the machine without mains power.

Furthermore the onset of these symptoms is assumed by many to be
related to the installation of the 10.2.4 upgrade. In the interests of
verifying this I thought I'd ask people who are using the same hardware
but a different OS.
