No guarantee I can help you, but a few more items of
information would be helpful:

1) Have you tried to use printtool to configure your
printer? Or is printconf=printtool?

3) How do you restart lpd?
4) Send a copy of your printcap and printcap.local
files.

As I said, I might not be able to help but this looks
strange, as I had no trouble at all setting up my
printing. First usb printing via printtool and now
network printing by editing printcap manually.
