Strange netatalk/LNE100TX problem

I just installed a LinkSys LNE100TX (Version 5.1) PCI Ethernet card 
in my  PowerCenter running YDL 2.3.  I chose this card because it 
supposedly works with recent tulip drivers and its net cost was $5. 
However, I'm having a very peculiar problem whenever I try to 
configure netatalk to use the new card.

If netatalk is disabled or configured to communicate over the 
PowerCenter's built-in Ethernet port, the remaining networking seems 
to work fine on the LinkSys port.  However, if I reconfigure netatalk 
to use the LinkSys port, the *only* networking that works is pinging; 
neither TCP/IP nor AppleTalk works.

Output from the various logs and commands is available upon request. 
Would YDL 3.0 likely include fixes for this problem?
