YDL doesn't recognize scsi device

  I am running a standard installation of YDL 2.1 on a 4400/200.

  I have just attached a UMAX Astra 1220S scanner with ID 5 to the built-in
SCSI port.  It is not recognized.  During bootup, the following is reported:
  SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00
  scsi0 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices
  scsi1 : MESH
  mesh: target 5 aborted

  If I instead boot up under Mac OS 8.5, the scanner is recognized
as expected at ID 5 on SCSI bus 0.

  Any assistance on why the scanner is not being recognized under YDL and
how to correct it would be greatly appreciated.
