You have the responsibility backwards -- the G4 chips are why Apple's 
systems have a 166 MHz (or slower) FSB.  Apple was probably responsible 
for pushing Motorola to qualify 166 MHz FSB G4 parts at all, since the 
maximum FSB speed Motorola claims for the G4 on their own web site is 
still just 133 MHz.  (It's typical for Motorola to not publish data on 
"special" parts requested by and mainly supplied to a single customer.)
