Kudzu must be in the startup sequence. To verify:
[root@byte root]# chkconfig --list | grep -i kudzu
kudzu 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off
The "3:on" means that the system will start kudzu when it reaches
runlevel 3.
If you know you haven't added any new hardware, turn off kudzu:
[root@byte root]# chkconfig kudzu off
And again you can verify with:
[root@byte root]# chkconfig --list | grep -i kudzu
kudzu 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:off 4:off 5:off 6:off
