Mac Xserve - ATA 100 recognition problem?

Hello all,

I just got a mac xserve and am trying to get YD on it - downloaded the =
Dec 2.3 iso, and got to the point of partitioning the drive, set up =
according to the little booklet that came with my copy of 2.3, with an =
unallocated partition first, then the macOS partition.  When I get to =
the partitioning step in YDL, it says it can't find a hard disk. =20

I've gone back through the archives, and it seems that 2.3 might have =
problems with ATA 100 drives....?? This is a new xserve, so Apple may =
have changed something (like ATA 66 to ATA 100?) for these new models. =20

Anyone out there have an idea of what I can try?
Might 3.0 be the answer to all my problems?
