No Boot fresh YDL3 install

I'm attempting to install YDL 3.0 on a Beige G3 MiniTower 266...
can't boot the system after the full install from the Geek-CD set...
/sbin/modprobe -s -k block-major-8 errno=2
no mount on 08:1b
cannot open /dev/sdb11 <!-- which is to mount as "/" -->
UW SCSI disk on 53c88 controller card.

Are there known issues in this configuration?
