Go the the Yellow Dog page and click on support. Your issue is
addressed in the first few items.

As for the general notion that Yellow Dog is somehow not up to standard
when it comes to just installing and having everything go right,
nothing could be further from the truth. The day before yesterday I was
installing Red Hat on a brand new AMD machine. The screen went dead
with an out of sync message half way through the install. After I
figured out that passing 'linux lowres' to the installer would get me
through the installation process, I was treated to 'no signal' from the
monitor. It only took me a day of messing around to finally figure out
what was wrong and how to get video working on the machine. I still
didn't have audio so I decided to go to an Installfest yesterday to
learn from the experts. What I learned is that every distro has
problems on every platform. That's just the state of Linux. If Yellow
Dog gave you sound and video 'right out of the box' you should be
pretty happy. If you want an OS that will detect and enable all your
hardware flawlessly with no effort on your part, then Panther is the
way to go.
