A migration of the YDL lists to forums: 2004 08/03

Which choice is the lesser of two evils, leaving YDL or going with a
distribution that has a mailing list, instead of forums?
I don't understand. I prefer mailing lists because I get to look at
stuff, even if it doesn't really interest me. Mailing lists are easy
and they target everyone on the list. You don't have to do anything
directly, to see the info. In fact, it comes at you, regardless of
whether you actually wanted it.
Forums take more work. You actually have to click to read. You actually
need a specific topic to contribute to.
In short, Forums are more work.
Is that the reason to give up YDL and say goodbye to Terrasoft? Is that
why you've been contributing to this list, because it's easier than
Gentoo, which has a Forum? I must have misunderstood, as I thought it
was because you like YDL and us.
I hate to lose the mailing list, but ONLY because I could access it
every time I downloaded e-mail, including on the road, in remote corners
of North Dakota, and even on Lake of the Woods, in Canada (Hey! It was
raining and the fish stopped biting!).
I am sad to see MLs go, but I'm not giving up YDL. I don't think you
have to switch to YDL 4, to discuss on the forum, either!
