Peter,

If you install the x server of apple on mac osx, get MOl running and run 
"ssh -l [username] -X [ip-number of the linux side]" you can start (try 
gimp and watch and wait) and run ydl applications. Maybe it's not 
excactly what you where looking for but at least it works. You can even 
install ydl without a graphical envirement and run every application on 
the x server on the mac side. Google for "x11userformacosx.dmg" and the 
package will show up.
