Open Office 1.1 upgrade; can't save documents!

I just upgraded my YDL 3.0 system with OO 1.1.  It's great to have copy 
and paste back.  Unfortunately, for a few of my existing spread-sheets I 
can't save anymore!

Upon a save, it seems to work with the progress bar on the bottom 
completing.  Then I get a dialog saying "Couldn't create a backup copy". 
        If I quit the program by discarding, then nothing has been saved.

This doesn't seem to happen for new documents, just existing 
spreadsheets I created with OO 1.0.  Please help.  The new version looks 
great, but if it can't save then I can't use it.
