Really? What doesn't work about it? Most people find that it is an
exemplary (if bloated) browser. The version with Yellow Dog Linux is
several revisions old, but I like it for most things.
Konqueror will eventually be a fine browser, but at present (or, at
least in the version we have in Yellow Dog Linux 3.0.1), it is a better
file browser than Web browser (in my humble opinion). When the Konqueror
folks have incorporated Apple's (and Dan Hyatt's) bug fixes and
improvements, I think Konqueror will start demanding respect.

Firefox is good and on the verge of becoming great. Here's a link that
Baruch Stone sent to the list a few months ago:

This should get you started.

If you are truly a newbie, you might want to take baby steps and get
used to installing something (anything -- pick some program that
interests you, or make a general update of your system) using the yum
system. Start by looking here:

Installing or updating with yum will get you used to the command line
and performing actions with root privileges. Installing an rpm package
(such as the Firefox) is only slightly harder, but there are a few
gotchas (for instance, I have learned to type "rpm -Uvh packagename" to
install a package that way, but I don't know what the magic "Uvh"
incantation accomplishes).

No, because it is not. :-)
Good luck!
Best wishes,
Clint
