At 06:26 PM 10/4/2004, Eric D, had this to say :

>Wow. Getting AppleTalk running on Linux was as easy as 1-2-3. I would've
>had more headaches getting FileSharing going on an OS 9 Mac!

What? You've had a hard time turning on file sharing and then
setting the hard drive to be shared? Two steps in MacOS 9. :)

>All I did was fireup WebMin and turned on atalk! Both our OS 9 and OS X

>NetGear 802.11g but both cards are 802.11b... I didn't think NetGear

atalk runs over TCP so it has nothing to do with your network
gear. I got atalk running on my YDL 3.0.1 PB 3400c with 2 servers (1 for
guests and 1 for users). Having an issue though with atalk allowing
read-write access to my HFS mounts of MacOS 9 and it's applications. Any
one have any idea why when I mount my HFS volumes, only root has full access?

>WebMin route!

Best to know how to ssh though. It's a lot easier to carry around
ssh clients than web browsers. :)

Hmmm, there's an idea for my USB flash drive. Make it boot a tiny
Linux distro that allows network access and gives me a full suite of
network utilities. :D
