Greetings all,
I posted a couple of days ago about problems installing ydl on my beige G3.
My hardheadedness finally paid off. I finally got through the install
procedure, but then I couldn't boot into ydl using BootX. Well, it was a
fairly simple fix. I just had to reconfigure the options on the BootX
startup screen ( I think it was to check the "use no vido driver" option).
After that ydl would begin loading and stop at the login message. After I
entered my login and password nothing would happen. I was stumped for
awhile. I finally found that if I entered "startx" ydl would immmediately
start up. I'm enjoying my early exploration of ydl. But I really feel
awkward, just like when I used my first Mac Plus years ago.
I recently downloaded the newest release of OpenOffice. But I can't figure
out how to install it. I tried to follow the instructions. But in Konsole
I get the message that "there is no such file" or something to that effect.
I really am a novice if I can't even figure out how to install a program.
John
