Hi,
here I am again.
I forget to mail, that you must choose from the Option (it is called by the
controllpanel BootX as Option) the RAMDisk, not by Kernel.
This is importent, because otherwise your Mac will try to launch Linux from
a Harddisk.
At that time, you click on Option, a Dialog will open and you can chooose
the RAMDisk, what shell be in the Systemfolder of your MacOS.
If you have less then 64 MB RAM in your Mac, you should choose the
ramdisk-text.image.gz, what is not so easy to use (also in the
Systemfolder).
Important to know is also, what MacOS you use.
I use MacOS 9.1, where BootX is installed on, to launch Linux.
With MacOS 7.5.3 it gives Problems, what you must solve.
I have looked in my english Instruktions, for what format you need to use
the YDL-Installer for Linux.
The Format is unlocated.
Later, when you install, you will use a formatter from YDL, where you format
the Bootloader,Swap und Root Partion with.
Try to use the Custom installer, I had less Problems with this Version as
with the Defaultinstallation.
At least 2 Points, that are important to.
Use a orig CD-ROM from Apple (mybe an old 2x or 4x CD-ROM).
Check if you use a Monitoradapter (using a WINStupid Monitor?).
Most of them make trouble use using and configurating X-Windowsystems.
I had to use our old 14 Monitor from my wifes old 475 Performa, to config
Xfree and the VideoCard.
Use the Resolutions and not the the Monitormodells, if you configared your
X-Systems.
I hope, that will bring you more as my first Mail.
Inbetween my second Yellow Dog Linux is running on my second Mac PPC 7600
very fine.
Happy new Year
Olaf
