Kernel 2.4.19-4a and internal modem on PowerBook G4 400

Hello,

I have a PowerBook G4 400 when I installed YDL 2.0, 
everything worked great except power managment.  
After reading some news on Google Groups and search 
the web, I found out that I needed a 2.4.x kernel for 
pmod to work.

I installed "kernel-2.4.19-4a.ppc.rpm" from the 
YellowDog FTP site and it worked!  Only problem is 
that my modem doesn't work anymore.

Can some help me out?  I VERY new to linux, so be 
gentle ....
