multi-session CD-Rs in the Finder
Thu, Jul 18 '02 at 08:09AM ? from: Anonymous
To make multi-session CD-Rs in OS X, you do not need the CLI or the
hdutil (as explained in previous hints 1
<http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20020520083853834> and 2
<http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=200205150128445> ).

First burn a CD as usual in the "Finder" with whatever data you want on
it. Then when you want to add data, just create a blank DMG (using Disk
Copy) of whatever size you need to hold that data. Of course, the size
you specify must fit on the partially burned CD. Put the files you wish
to burn on the DMG. Unmount the DMG and then use "Disk Copy" to "Burn
Image". Put in the CD to which you wish to add the data.

"Disk Copy" now says "Click the "Append" button to burn", and the button
says "Append" instead of "Burn". And there you go, a multi-volume
multi-session CD-R or -RW burned in OSX with no additional software
required!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
or, as I alluded to in my other message, check out
www.sentman.com/burner/ who writes:

Drag and drop files or folders into the main program window, adjust your
volume name as desired and click the "Burn" button.

Disk Burner, that is built into Mac OS X, burns an entire disk at once
whether you have used all the space on it or not. CD Session Burner lets
you burn as many smaller volumes to the disk as you like until the space
is all used up. That makes it perfect for doing incremental backups as
you work on projects. When you use a multi session disk each session
will mount as a separate volume.

Hope that is more helpful - Eric
