Hello,

We're have a similar problem to that of one of the postings by Jim
Steed.

We're using a new Power Mac G4 with a single 1 GHz cpu, and are trying
to install YDL 2.3 on it.

First off, after "successful?" installation attempt using yaboot, when
rebooting, we never get prompted for either linux by yaboot. (we've
deleted the mac OS X partition since we didn't want to keep it)

So we reboot and interrupt to the firmware prompt, and then proceed to
boot from the install CD and launch yaboot using:

        boot cd:,\\yaboot

Then at the yaboot prompt, we use:

    cd-linux root=/dev/hde2

...and that's where we get the error saying

> Please wait, loading kernel...
> linux:2,/vmlinux: Unable to open file, Invalid device

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
