The iMac sells because it is a consumer product - people desire it as
an object. I think you have to asses that on its own terms. The no
fan issue is a major plus for consumers. You need a tower, esp. 4 a
server.

Yep 4 all it's 'communist' image, apple sure likes to charge. You
must agree Jag is massivly better than 10.1

? Just leave a big blank free space at the start of your HDD. And why
UnixFS? Fink and X11 run fine on HFS+ and you can mix it with ext2
partitions 4 YDL...

yup. to get my mac I had to literally compete to get an ex demo model
and get an extra credit card for it and use a $50 monitor.

? just create a root password with NetInfo Manager. If you want root
in finder use Pseudo

Having said all that. Unless the new IBM chip brings mac up to speed
my next machine will be linux/windows+AMD. Especially 4 3D work.

I didn't know anything about Linux at all. But Linux users seemed to
have a very similar (like Mac users) look on their faces: THEY WERE

Linux is wonderful. So is Mac. Then I see all this just like Linux is
the Old brother and OSX is the young one. Though, there is a lot they
both have to learn from each other.

I mean, WHY NOT USE THE COOLEST SYSTEMS??? and have what
is best from 2 worlds.

Free like communism, not free beer !!

So really the question is: If no OSX then why YDL/PPC?

I'm sure I'd be asked...why mess around with YDL, since OS X is now

I've got one answer: runs on several pre-G3 machines...but what else
