Lost KDM

same thing happened to me, but in 3.0, if i tried to install every package 
and upgrade everything, some files would have to unistall kde to install, 
so try to  reinstall all kde* rpms,

have you tried upgrading to 3.0?

if you can use synaptic, it's even easier...
