iBook CUPS problem

Feeling dumb here.

I can see my printer under USB devices in the KDE control center. Ran through 
the web-based CUPS configuration, and everything looked fine. But the print 
job simply queues. 

On boot, I see one error: cannot update /etc/fstab. CUPS starts normally. I 
also see this error in CUPS administration: "Unable to open USB device 
"usb:/dev/usb/lp0": No such device" 

What am I missing? Printing is nice to have.  ;-)
