large trackpad doesn't work right

Anybody experiencing issues with PB 17" trackpads?

I'm finding that the central area (what a normal trackpad would occupy)
works fine but when you touch the extended edges left & right it
immediately pops up right button/F11 menus (even when 3button emulation
is off!)

USB peripheral mice and keyboards work fine. 

no difference with notap/tap toggled or 3button emulation on or off.
