amsn problem install

Andrew,

I believe that rpm -ta will build from a tarball, which ultimately does 
all the same stuff as rpm -ba, except that -ba assumes you have the 
src.rpm file and related stuff in its normal, untarred format. Although 
the man pages don't elaborate, I'd bet that the tarball has the SPECS 
file already contained and really just assumes you don't want any 
further customization.

I am fairly new to Linux and am really only an amateur, but I would 
guess that once a src.rpm file has been processed into the rpm package, 
it could be placed in a repository for others to use, right? I haven't 
gotten feedback from any of the repository masters, as to whether they'd 
like to take my rpm (or anyone's, for that matter) and make them 
available to the rest of the ydl community.
