Mac on Linux is golden brown

I guess you'll have to use a lower color depth for the OSX side. 
check /etc/mol.molrc.video
there is a line for depth. The default is 32.
X11 and OSX are not be using the same colormap?

Another possibility would be to setup mol to use a tty (VT) instead of
within a X11 window.
