Fresh Off The Boat

Hi Eamonn:

The challenge of producing a manual for YDL, or any Linux distribution,
is the fact that it has the capacity from first boot to work as both a
client and server. People tend to focus on the functions and tasks
useful to them and as there are as many interests as there are grains
of sand, it's rather a tall order to produce a manual which will
address the interests of any particular individual.

For YDL, there is a rather general introduction which is available here:

http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/store/index.php?submit=software&submitimg[software][ydl]=1

Even though this text addresses features and aspects of earlier
versions of YDL, the suggestions and recommendations regarding
executing commands via the Command Line Interface remain useful. For
more than that, you can acquire any text addressing the details of
Linux System Administration or Linux Programming. Doing this will
allow you to cover a great deal of ground over a short period of time.

I've found the following links useful:

http://www.yellowdog-board.com/
http://www.justlinux.com/
http://www.upscale.utoronto.ca/GeneralInterest/Harrison/LearnLinux/
http://www.linux.org/lessons/

Ejecting and accessing hard drives, cds or DVDs pretty much happens
automatically within YDL 5 from within e17, KDE or other desk
environment you choose. However there remains the mount/umount command.
For more do:

$man mount

or

$man umount

Likewise do:

$info mount

mp3s? I use xmms to do that. I downloaded the source and compiled it
from scratch.

Good Luck...
