Hi Dan.

This is just a dump of issues I encountered while upgrading from 0.75 to
0.80. Some my be nothing, some may be weirdness due to the fact that I
was just upgrading RPM's rather than starting from scratch. Some may be
real issues. I will leave it to you to sort out ;) If you want further
feedback on any of the issues, just let me know.

1) The /usr/ppc-yellowdog-linux directory needs a symlink to /lib. Netscape
at least won't start without the existence of this link.

2) Netscape's default home page (file:/usr/doc/HTML/index.html) is a Red Hat
page.

3) xterm cursor highlighting with mouse focus is still broken somewhere. Not
sure if it is Gnome, Enlightenment, or X that is causing the problem.

4) Xconfigurator still doesn't work for a 99 PowerBook. Don't think I have
ever seen a version that did work. At least not with FBDev.

5) When starting Gnome, I received a message stating
/usr/share/enlightenment/themes/CleanBig was a badly formed theme package.

6) At boot time, there are messages claiming unresolved symbols for...
/lib/modules/2.2.15-2.5.0/block/nbd.o
/lib/modules/2.2.15-2.5.0/misc/usb-scsi.o
/lib/modules/2.2.15-2.5.0/pcmcia/epic_cb.o

7) At boot there is a message stating "Warning. Gobs of debugging output
has .... Check kern.debug ..."

8) At boot there is a message stating /etc/adjtime: read-only file system.

9) There didn't appear to be replacement packages for the following, which
were on my system when I started the upgrade.
* ext2ed-0.1-19a
* iptraf-2.1.1-1
* irda-utils-0.9.4-1
# kernel-pcmcia-cs-2.2.6-16a
* knfsd-1.4.7-8
* knfsd-clients-1.4.7-8
* libxml10-1.0.0-2
* pdisk-0.7-2
* pmac-utils-1.1.1-1a
* quik-1.3.1-0a
* rpmlint-0.8-1
* setuptool-1.2-3a
* webalizer-1.30.04-1
* xbill-2.0-6

10) The following Ruff Pack 0.80 packages appeared to be older versions
than what was already present after the 0.75 upgrade.

package trackpad-0.1-2 (which is newer than trackpad-0.1-0)
package setup-2.0.2-1 (which is newer than setup-1.2-3)
package mouseconfig-4.2-1 (which is newer than mouseconfig-4.0-1a)
package modemtool-1.21-6a (which is newer than modemtool-1.21-6)
package gdb-4.18-9 (which is newer than gdb-4.18-4)
package basesystem-6.0-4 (which is newer than basesystem-6.0-3)

11) The following are errors I received while upgrading.

[root@freyr rp80]# rpm -Uvh linuxconf-1.17r2-4.ppc.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
        redhat-release is needed by linuxconf-1.17r2-4

[root@freyr rp80]# rpm -Uvh kernel-2.2.15-2.5.0.ppc.rpm
error: failed dependencies:

[root@freyr rp80]# rpm -Uvh setup-1.2-3.ppc.rpm
file /usr/sbin/setup from install of setup-1.2-3 conflicts with file from packag
e setuptool-1.2-3a

Hope there is something useful in all of that. The above aside, my PowerBook
is now running all 0.80 packages and seems to be doing just fine.

Jim
