Hi, I am having similar problems. The Monitors & Sound control panel
doesn't see the Mac-on-Linux audio device(I'm using os 8.1 on a Performa
6400/180). But the alterative Sound control panel, that comes with os
8.1, does see it. When I try to select the mol audio device, All the
windows disapear and then re-appear, like the finder is restarting
itself. Then when I go back into the sound contol panel, after
realizing there is no sound, it still has Built-in as the selected
device!

Let me know if you need more infos,
